Shobhayatra: March to celebrate struggle for equality

Navsarjan joined with other NGOs committed to social justice and human rights to organize the Shobhayatra March for Equality. The Shobhayatra took place in Ahmedabad on April 13, 2013 – the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar, who was responsible for the principle of equality in the Indian Constitution. Consistent with Dr BR Ambedkar’s beliefs, the Shobhayatra focused on principles of equality for Dalits, for women, for the poor, and for all marginalized communities.

Modeled on a national Independence Day parade, the March for Equality  included representatives from several Indian districts, religions, castes, genders and ages and featured floats honoring Dr Ambedkar, Gandhiji, Lord Buddha, elected women, lawyers who fight for social justice, artists from all over Gujarat, and many more.
